Other extensions use browser.in-content.dark-mode in the about:config page to detect, whether to display a white or black icon.

Thank you for reporting this issue.

I've created new icons in https://github.com/jonathanmccann/archive-url-firefox-addon/commit/fe4c67706d70646215467abfe189eddf4ff17d7d and it should be resolved with version 1.7

If I've missed any icons please let me know.

Icons are not transparent, when firefox is not 100% white or black, you will see the background. I'd use a vector image, but transparent raster is ok too.
