Hello

The app is severely broken for ages by now. I've had this exact issue months ago, maybe even a year ago, or something like this.

cant even install it now. i start the setup and nothing pops up to guide the actual instalation, even if i start it in admin mode. Been a while the author updated anything or even replied to the issue tracker, just hope he is still in good health and in a stable economical situation. considering last update was still in the hype of covid times....... If he/she/them isnt/arent updating the app anymore, hope someone takes it over soon, as it was a real nice feature to help ED explorers. Get a little more credits if worth it when going through a system to do trades or bounty hunting, not really focusing on a "road to riches" kind of waypoint list. just scan if worth and carry on with your gameplay.

I kinda doubt that the original person still works on this at all. I hope they are okay, but i'd say time for someone to either take over or if need be make a fork to improve even further... If I had any kinda skill in coding and some such things, I'D have done so already, but yeah. I am fairly sure this is to be considered abandoned by the original author, by now.

I'm not dead, but I do now have a 2 year old and a 6 month old. Neither of which sleep well. I've also moved house recently. All of which has meant very little dev / gaming time. I am, however, hoping to get back to this in the next few weeks - I've missed elite and miss the challenge of working on EdScout πŸ™‚πŸ€žπŸ»

Hey Jon. Take your time my friend. Real life does get in the way. You have also been kind enough to put this out in the wild for free and users need to get back in their box and be greatful.PhilOn 8 Sept 2022 08:43, joncage @.***> wrote:

Oh damn, congrats on the kids and new house! Can'T wait to use EDScout again, then. I honestly don'T want to do "data collection" anymore without EDScout (not calling it exp, oring as it isnt really done out of curiosity if done for profit.). As Tricky said, take your time. Rushed things don't work out most of the time.

I honestly do not get where anyone was ungratefull? But fact is, this program has not been working for a long time now with no words or anything from Jon (now we know why this was the case), so people got worried that this amazing program was basically (either intentionally or unvoluntariely) abandoned. And yeah, nothing ungratefull whatsoever about that.

Congrats Jon on the birth of your youngest, and I am sure the 2-year-old keeps you on your toes. The children are much more important than a piece of code.

Can confirm, this works.

Thanks caver115.

Tazzetiel commented 1 year ago

No idea why, but i tried again (had to reset my pc since i used that innounp program thing last time) and it worked this time. At least the installation. when i tried to run it, it only errored out saying that the script failed to run. I guess i will still (since there has still not been any work (seriously, please pass this amazing project on to someone that has the time to maintain it... at least untill you can do so "reliably" yourself... it would be a real shame in my opinion to see this completely die... and it should not be a hard requirement for everyone to use that innounp program, just to get this to work...)
