There are several Windows builds for DOSBox-X, including Release SDL1, Release SDL2, MinGW SDL1, MinGW SDL2 etc. In general it is fine to just use the default options that the installation program provides. In any case, if you click the "Help" button in the down-left side of DOSBox-X build selection page when you use the installer, you will see the following help message:
The Setup pre-selects a Windows build for you according to your platform automatically,
but you can change the default build to run if you encounter specific problem(s) with the pre-selected one.
For example, while the SDL1 version is the default version to run, the SDL2 version may be preferred over the SDL1
version for certain features such as touchscreen input support. Also, MinGW builds may be used for lower-end systems.
You can usually just use the pre-selected build for your first installation. But if this build has certain problems, then you can re-run the installer and choose a different build, as stated in the above help message.
The DOS version selection page only shows in your first installation. The following help message is shown in that page too:
You can specify a default DOS version for DOSBox-X to report to itself and DOS programs.
This can sometimes change the feature sets of DOSBox-X. For example, specifying the reported
DOS version as 7.10 will enable long filename (LFN) and FAT32 disk image support by default.
If you leave this unselected, a preset DOS version will be reported (usually 5.00).
This setting can be later modified in the DOSBox-X's configuration file (dosbox-x.conf).
If you want to use the additional features mentioned above, then select that DOS version (7.10) accordingly. Otherwise it is fine to just skip that page and use the default setting instead.

what are the long enabled filename an disk image features are for?
I decided to add the following help messages to the installer (e.g. shown by the "Help" button).
If you are not sure about which build to use, then you can just leave it unmodified
and use the pre-selected one as the default build.
And
If you are not sure about which DOS version to report, then you can just leave this unselected,
and a preset DOS version will be reported (usually 5.00).
So for users who have no clue about which DOSBox-X build to use and which version to report, then just leave the option unmodified and use the default setting. There is no need for them to decide among such options.

cool. i wasn't sure which one was which. couldn't figured it out which one to use. cool. thanks.
also, can i use cd rom for this dosbox x?
will xbox one s controller work for dosbox x?
You can use CD-ROM in DOSBox-X of course. DOSBox-X has a menu bar, so from the "Drive" menu, select the drive you want to mount (A-Y), click "Mount as CD-ROM", then from the file browser select a path you want to mount. After that this path will appear as a CD-ROM drive in DOSBox-X. For using a XBox One S controller, you will need to use the Mapper Editor to map your controller. Please take a look at the DOSBox-X Wiki for more information about how to use these features.
