Runs fine on Windows.
In your screenshot, you set set debut=\debut
but it is obvious that it is incorrect.
Type dir \debut
to check.
The line "set debut=\debut" was taken from the autoexec.bat file on an HDI. The HDI boots fine. Commenting the line out didn't make the game run or change the result.
Where in your hdi file is the game installed? Where in your mounted folder is the game installed? And where does the environmental variable set?
Commenting out the line is definitely wrong.
Edit: Try booting the hdi file with the line in autoexec.bat commented out.
This AUTOEXEC.BAT file, and it's the DEBUT folder that I'm cd'ing into. The AUTOEXEC.BAT contains this:
@ECHO OFF
REM ===Environment variables=== PATH=A:\;A:\DOS;A:\TOOLS SET TEMP=A:\DOS SET DOSDIR=A:\DOS SET DIRCMD=/O:GN
REM ===Mouse driver=== LH /L:2 QMOUSE -z REM --Use -b- option for serial mouse.-- REM LH /L:2 QMOUSE -b- -z
REM ===CD-ROM driver=== REM LH MSCDEX.EXE /D:CD_101 /L:Q
CD DEBUT set debut=\debut dbstart.com
After removing the line, the HDI gets stuck.
So that means you need to set debut
to an appropriate value, not commenting out that you mentioned above.
And \debut
is not correct, and should be set to where you installed.
So I put this in my config and now the game runs within DOSBox-X DOS:
cd games\NECAven\debut set debut=C:\games\NECAven\debut dbstart.com
Describe the bug
As soon as I run the game, DOSBox-X starts spamming "ERROR CPU:Write ff to rom at" with various addresses. The game never actually starts. Happens regardless of CPU core setting.![Screenshot from 2024-03-31 13-16-35](https://github.com/joncampbell123/dosbox-x/assets/86888468/ae6a1e9c-c05d-414d-8bed-3c40d590140b)
Steps to reproduce the behaviour
Run the game, it should happen right away.
