I have already set Media size to disabled which will prevent downloading images in posts, but it still downloads all profile pictures in the list of followers/followings and search results.

An additional option like hide profile pictures or so that will make clear that the app does not load any images to better play together with slow network connections/to save bandwidth with fast but very limited bandwidth.
Additionally, a long press on a specific user could open a menu to load this specific picture with show profile picture.
