[BUG] Twitter subscriptions stopped working a few days ago #763

Describe the bug Until about 3 or 4 days ago, I had some Twitter subscriptions working, but since then, whenever I click some account to view it, I get a "Oops! Something went wrong - Unable to load the profile - statusCode: 404, reasonPhrase: Not Found", etc.

It's very likely due to Twitter API changes. I just wanted to note it here in case others have it, so they don't spend too much time on it.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to "Import subscriptions"
  2. Type in any public username, click Import (it should work, the accounts will be added to the Subscriptions screen)
  3. Click on any subscription, however, and you will get "Oops! Something went wrong".

Device Pixel 3, Android 12, English language, Fritter version 3.0.0-beta9 installed from F-Droid.

Note: I don't expect it to be fixed, Twitter is quite unstable lately and likely to implode; I just wanted to make a note of it, since someone did the same to my previous Twitter client, and it helped me confirm that it was not just me.

Same here. I observe this on Quacker too.

You should use the latest ci build version: https://github.com/jonjomckay/fritter/actions/runs/5579960923.

For those that are using Fritter from F-Droid, because of signature checks, you need to uninstall that version (don't forget to export your data before uninstalling) and then install this one. After installing, import your data back.

The page he linked to contains an "Artifacts" section which has the "apk", "apk-arm", etc links. When clicking on them, Github should provide a ZIP containing the APK, which can then be extracted.

However, for some reason (security?), the links do not work at all when I use my phone (tried both Firefox and Chrome). I had to click on the link with my laptop, unzip the APK inside, and then transfer the APK to my phone.

I really have no idea why and how Github blocks them, but it's not the author's fault.

By the way, I hesitate to close the issue because it's more visible when it's open, and it's really useful. But if you prefer to close it since you effectively solved the issue, please do so! Thanks a lot!

hello! this was really useful, must i download all items under "artifacts" or just "APK"? im also unfamiliar with these things (i was using f-droid but it also doesnt work).

j-fbriere commented 11 months ago

You can just download and install the first apk file (after the download, you will be asked to unzip it before installing it).

dev-jam commented 11 months ago

You need to be logged into github to download the apk/zip under artifacts.
