Update PHPUnit and existing tests #33

The update to 5.7 was chosen because of the minimum PHP version of 5.6. This PR already uses the API of the later PHPUnit versions, so if we consider dropping PHP 5.6, the later PHPUnit versions should still fit.

This PR will cover #27.
