Introduced a file options.h where extern declarations for global option flags can be referenced.
When not running in daemon mode, log to stdout instead of to syslog.
Print usage message and exit if passed an unrecognized option.

Addresses #55.

I decided to merge this because this introduces the ability to run in foreground mode and log out to stdout, which seems to be necessary for debugging what's going on in prod.
