Does the reporting work at all on this model as-is?

What do you mean by reporting? Everything works well as long as only a small 
number of records are requested, for example one hour.

How did you get 6000A to work?
I compiled sma-bluetooth on my cousin's computer (ubuntu 10.04 32bit) and it 
communicates with his 6000A inverter but I can't get the correct data (I tried 
with every inverter model).
Using your USB sniff results and following the wiki I found that InvCodes 
should be like this:

Inverter    6000A
Code1       0xce
Code2       0xd2
Code3       0xff
Code4       0x35
InvCode     0x63

Is this correct? Do you use this codes?
I can't test them right now.

I have been using these codes for a while but it made little
difference than using the existing 7000. If would help if I knew what
the correct output looks like.

I did upgrade the bluetooth firmware, which may have changed the codes.
The biggest problem is date errors caused by duplicate records.
So I comment out:
  error=1;
  break;
After
