These don't work on search.cpan.org. On metacpan.org they are useless
(their pod2html already does this), don't seem to work (they are not kept
in the HTML output) and causes problems with whole paragraphs rendered
as links (see https://metacpan.org/module/Mason::Interp, scroll down to
comp_root).
My suggestion is to merge this code, and make a release to see if it solves the problem with the whole paragraph as link stuff (its very distracting). Its a single commit. If later you decide it wasn't a good idea, you can always git revert it.
