Streams Fail to Start #70

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. select a show, usually the previous evening's news while I have breakfast
2. press play
3. watch the progress spinner start, and fail
4. repeat again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again..
5. eventually if you're lucky the stream starts

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The stream refuses to play. Debug log shows an "AccessManager" error.
AccessManager is a WebSSO and authorisation product sold by RSA so my guess is
that something in the request that passes an auth token to the CDN is malformed.

Debug log output (http://pastebin.com/)

trying to play PID b01bh8g9 with plugin and xbmc debug on:
http://pastebin.com/hTUedt1n

What version of the plugin are you using? On what OS?

2.4.13 on current dev OpenELEC builds that use python 2.7.2

Please provide any additional information below.

I'm coming back to this as I recently discovered the ITV plugin which works
flawlessly using the same home-run squid proxy. I also use get_iplayer (via the
Mac 'Get iPlayer Automator' app) and have downloaded a large range of content
from iPlayer over a period of several years with no issue. I strongly believe
it is not an issue with the proxy, its configuration or intermediate networking
issues. If having access to my box would help resolve this let me know, it can
be arranged.

did you try limelight source only ? akamai streams may well be geolocked. for
that you would need a vpn.

the fact you say if you are lucky makes me think you have stream source to auto
- and only sometimes do you get a limelight stream. note - only meta data is
proxied and certainly some of the cdns also geolock their streams.

If I don't receive anything further, I will assume my replies fixed the issue
and close the bug.
