Article cannot be saved successfully. Issue happens randomly.

Steps to reproduce the issue

Create an article. Type something in the content. Select save. Click "Edit" to return to enter edit mode for the same article. Type some words to update the article. Then select save. The system shall spin during saving process. Please note the duration of the spinning time. Instantly or 3~5 seconds. Ensure the system indicates "Article saved." When issue happens, the system will not return to the article with "Edit" on top right. Instead, in my case, it has gone two level out to article listing. This issue happens randomly. It can be duplicated when trying for 10 times.

Expected result

System shall spin for a few seconds then system shall indicates “Article saved", and return to the same page showing "Edit" on the upper right corner.

Actual result

Occasionally, system spin for one second and jump out to else where, in my case, it jump out 2 level to category listing of article, not showing "Article saved". When issue happens, the user will have to hit the browser back button (<--) to return to the article in editor mode, and select save again. The system shall spin for 2 to 3 seconds and system shall indicates “Article saved", and return to the same page showing "Edit" on the upper right corner. If the user fails to do so, the article will be locked, and the system is indicating "checked out" instead of "Edit".

System information (as much as possible)

• Joomla 4 is hosted on Ubuntu 21.04
• This issue happens since the beginning of 4.0.x version, including 4.1
• The issue is NOT related to Editor (TinyMCE or JCE) or Browser (Google Chrome of MS Edge).
• The bug may not happen in the first attempt. Try it for 10 times, you will definitely get one.
• To work around this bug, the user will need to use the browser back button (<--) to return to the page in which the article is in the edit mode and with the update. Select "Save" to save the article again. The article shall be saved for the second time.

Additional comments

Please let me know what other info is missing. I will response to it within one to two days.

Label it "info required" or "no code attached yet" would not help. I am not the developer, I don't know which part of the code causing the issue.

This issue is annoying, I am using Joomla in the school, every time when this happen, the article is locked out. I have to do global check in under admin page.

I see that you are editing the articles in the frontend and not the admin - that would have been very very useful to know. Do you also have issues when editing in the admin?

Could you also please list all the extensions that you have installed.

What level is the user that you are logged in as when making these edits.

1. May I know how where do we type "Edit"?
2. I don't normally edit article in admin, 99% of the time the users are doing it at front end. I only use admin to create user, install modules, and update Joomla. If there is no issue in admin, what would that tell you? Anyhow, the bug still need to be fixed in front end is it?
3. The Access Level for me is Publisher and Superuser. The bug happens to all publishers group as well.

I don't normally edit article in admin, 99% of the time the users are doing it at front end. I only use admin to create user, install modules, and update Joomla. If there is no issue in admin, what would that tell you? Anyhow, the bug still need to be fixed in front end is it?

The Access Level for me is Publisher and Superuser. The bug happens to all publishers group as well.

Almost certainly unrelated but I see that all your akeeba extensions are out of date!

What is absolutely relevant is that you have another extension installed which I am GUESSING you made yourself with component-creator

This extension has finder plugins and I did suggest the first time you created a bug report that you should check for these as they operate on save - which is when you are having the problem.

At this moment in time I cannot replicate your error.

1. Please completely uninstall your own component and all of its plugins
2. Please update all the akeeba packages
3. Please go to smart search and rebuild the index
4. Then test again and see if it is still repeatable

   The users are teachers, they know nothing about Joomla technical. They just complained when issue arises.

3. Yes, I am testing module created from component-creator. This is my test side. I have another production site which the school is using without deploying any component-creator module, and the issue happens.

Please don't say that. We are here with a common goal to make Joomla better. Obviously, getting access to the site where issue is found is much easier than trying to duplicate one. The latter requires to burn more hours and may not be successful. When there is a better way to look into a problem, I don't see any reason not to choose it. If you are worrying of personal email being expose to scam, you are welcome to use a temporary email which can be easily created from yahoo or gmail. In fact I am more worrying if you could do any harm to the test site but I trust you having the right mind. I am asking a email so than the credential can go to the right hand instead of exposing it here. Anyway, I leave the choice to you. I am still happy to correspond in words if this is the way u prefer. Let me know when u r ready to access the site. I will try the steps u mentioned above.

When I was trying to update akeeba, I am getting warning to remove all FEF and FOF. I have successfully removed FEF but when I removed FOF, I am getting error message, Error: Class 'FOF30\Container\Container' not found: Class 'FOF30\Container\Container' not found and my backend site is not accessible. I have to make a few attempts before it get saved properly. Notice on the first attempt of saving, the page didn't return to the page before entering "Edit" mode. This instance, it didn't get saved. I have used the browser back error to return to the same page in Edit mode, then select "Save" again. This time, the page will spin for a little longer and the page was saved.

Do you understand the issue?
