Just adding the Google search results (from southern Manitoba Canada) here:

website - 5,960,000,000 results website -"web site" - 5,140,000,000 results "web site" -website - 753,000,000 results Your search - "web site" -website -web -site - did not match any documents.

Thanks for posting that but it's not really relevant as it does not show en-GB usage.

I will post back here I'm the morning with all en-GB sources I can find

All of these reference sites refer to it as one single word and all without a capital - so I am going to update the guidelines to show that.

That makes sense as it -- website -- is not a proper name. It is a thing, albeit a virtual one, just like, say, apple.
