Problem with Casio Privia PX-130

When I connect this keyboard to my Macbook Pro running 10.6.7 (and now .8, 
still same problem), and switch it to USB device mode, a drive appears on the 
desktop called PIANO, and I can open it and see files on the keyboard such as 
recorded songs and settings, but the lights on the keyboard continue flashing 
as if waiting to be connected, and programs like GarageBand and Synthesia can't 
see the device to use.  How can I fix this?

When the keyboard is plugged in, does it still show up in Audio/MIDI Setup or 
any other MIDI-capable application ? It's the first time I hear about a 
keyboard showing as a storage device.

I don't see the keyboard in Audio/MIDI setup at all. Is there a way I can 
verify that the driver is running at all?

When you say you don't see it is the in the Audio View, or the MIDI Device 
view, as show here:

This is the expected behavior when you switch the USB device mode to "Storage"! 
The default USB device mode is "Instrument", which allows it to be recognized 
as a MIDI device for programs such as GarageBand and Sythesia to use as INPUTS. 

When you switch the device to "Storage" mode by pressing function+USB Device 
Mode, it acts only as a storage device and the 3 Tone keys blink constantly to 
let you know that it is in this mode. The constant blinking is the expected 
behavior, this happens on mine too when I put it in "Storage" mode. 

When in this "Storage" mode, the computer sees it just as a USB Storage device 
(like your average thumb drive), and no longer as a MIDI input. This feature is 
useful if you want to put new songs onto the piano.

However, when NOT in Storage, I also have the problem of this NOT showing up in 
the Audio & MIDI Setup utility, or anywhere else on my system. The install 
instructions say it should show as "Casio USB Keyboard", but I don't see this.

Could you look into the Console and search for USB or MIDI related messages ?

This is the only message (related to USB or MIDI) I see after I connect the 
PX-130 and turn it on:

1/11/12 10:37:17.000 PM kernel  0        0 AppleUSBCDC: start - initDevice failed

Not sure what that's about....but I'm pretty sure I installed it correctly, as 
I can see "CasioUSBMIDIDriver.plugin" in /Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/

Hey I figured it out. I still don't see "Casio USB Keyboard" in my audio 
settings, but when I open garageband, and set it up as software instrument as 
shown here: 
http://simeonpilgrim.com/blog/2008/02/15/casio-ctk-800-and-macbook/, it works. 
Although the sound level is very low, so I have to turn that track's gain up to 
full to make it comparable to other tracks.
