Google Earth Crashes in ubuntu 12.04 64 bit

What steps will reproduce the problem?

What is the expected output or behavior? What do you see instead?
no idea what the expected output should be; I never-reinstalled theh 64 bit 
version of google-earth after installing dependencies. Rather than requesting I 
report a bug, I think I should have been told that google earth was not 
installed.

Which browsers and operating systems are affected?
Ubuntu 12.04

Occurs even after removing and reinstalling (as in second crashlog above) and 
also after trying to reinstall the 64bit package through the Ubuntu Software 
Center
