Different parts of the plot window behave differently (e.g. the x and y co-ordinates changing) seems to cause some real problems.
For example, in the Maxwell modes theory, you can only drag the yellow diamonds around in part of the plot window, and you can no longer drag the fitting range around (essentially, only a fraction of the plot window is responding correctly to mouse clicks, or mouse over).
