No connection to Garmin watch

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install usb_lib
2. Install garmintools
3. Connect USB dongle

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Get no connection.
Screen dump terminal window below

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Ubuntu 11.10

Please provide any additional information below.
Devices have been paired under windows. No issues to use under windows

same issue found here, using ubuntu 11.10, with a forerunner 405. Did not 
install usb_lib

no consigo que UBUNTU 14.04 reconozca mi garmin FORERUNNER 305 
P.D. por favor como para niños , no se nada de informática.
