The \listdel command is already present in etextools. As discussed in https://groups.google.com/d/msg/comp.text.tex/VRrFB4ll5n0/Vu31OC4hQG8J, etextools was meant mainly for 'experiments' but at the same time it is stable (in the sense it's not changed for some time): it may be necessary to back out the recent change.
