TabStash Fix: Merge Any Two or Multiple Saved TabStash Groups #469

Open dec-mail opened 7 months ago

dec-mail commented 7 months ago

Problem Statement

Can't merge Stashed Tab Groups

Preferred Solution(s)

Merge any two or multiple Saved TabStash Groups

Select groups by tick box - or with CTRL-Enter

Merge will just add tabs of each Group on the bottom of the 1st Group

These could later be sorted - see separate Fix for sorting Tabs within groups.

Thanks for the feature request, I'll keep this in mind!

Note that you can manually merge groups by selecting and moving all the tabs from one group into another. This even works across multiple groups—e.g. select all the tabs you want to move, across every group, and drag them into the destination group.

If your old group does not have a name / has the default "Saved ..." name, it will be automatically deleted once it's empty.

Hope this helps!

Hi Josh Thank you for comments. I will try that. And this is documented where? And, as with other 'hidden' functions, it would be a good idea to have a VISIBLE icon or similar for this function, and/or ADD to drop-down!

kind regards

don

Multi-selection is shown on the add-ons page: https://addons.mozilla.org/user-media/previews/full/287/287625.png?modified=1695950797

Josh

I simply do not know how you can do that.

Like, for instance, if i click on a single Tab to select it - it just OPENS the bloody Tab!

So just HOW can i select a range of (adjacent) Tabs????

And if i remember correctly, multi-tab select is the only current way atm to merge two existing Tab Groups.

let me attach an existing example ...

just HOW do i merge these two Groups if i wanted???

This is where you need to click to select a tab without opening it:

330992531-272d867a-883a-4505-9869-62eb25ce935e

(You can also shift-click + ctrl-click to multi-select, so long as it's within the same group.)

When I talk about the tab's icon, this is what I mean.

Once you've selected the tabs to move, you can move them into the dtestination group by drag-and-drop, or by clicking the blue stash icon that appears when you hover over the destination group.

Hope this helps!

OK, Josh Got THAT to work. Two things.

  1. that is NOT intuitive at all. And not documented, i believe.
  2. it seems that you have to UNselect one tab at a time? Or is there a trick to that? kind regards don

The same Shift+Click should work for both select and un-select.
