Classic rock, Mario Kart, and why we can't agree on Tailwind - Josh Collinsworth blog

It's popular to say we can’t agree on Tailwind, but I posit we actually already do. I think what we actually disagree on isn’t the details of this (or any) specific software; it's in what we value, and how we each define assets and liabilities.

Bravo, sir. I submitted this to Hacker News. Hope I didn’t do you any disservice in the process. :-)

This is a well written piece, its nice to see writing is not just one sided. Iam considering using tailwind ffora redesign of our form backend service. There is a steep learning curve for sure.

This whole article screams excellency from top to bottom. The style of the page as well as the clear and concise, as well as funny, writing are extraordinary. Glad to have been referred from HN.

This is the most eloquant post I've read on this complex subject. It hugely resonated with some "research" I did a few month ago : https://dev.to/bcalou/do-css-framework-users-actually-know-css-we-might-have-some-data-22o2 Anyway, thanks for this great writing!

Probably the best article on Tailwind I've read. You offer a very balanced view, which is very rare.

I personally HATE Tailwind. I was "forced" to use it on a React project ("yuk" and "yuk"), and it massively slowed me down. Like you, I'm a Crafter who loves coding CSS, and teaching it, so I don't need a CSS framework, even when working on the largest sites / apps.

This is freaking brilliant. Thanks for writing it.

The spectrum between crafters and builders is just perfect. I find myself very much in the crafters end of the spectrum and I'm personally very concerned as all I see around me is builders. Why are there so many and what will become of us crafters?

I know this is a spectrum but I can't help but feel like there is a growing divide in our community. A polarization in our industry. And this concerns me as those passionate about the craft are typically older and retiring. How will our software change as we continue to promote more builder centric philosophies and lesson the perspectives crafters had?

I would just like to say I appreciate your thoughtful criticism of Tailwind here, which is clearly based on deep experience and understanding of it. Which (sorry to sub comment) is quite unlike a lot of the criticism of Tailwind that have spread around lately.

I'm still not sure if I've become a Tailwind hater (I don't have much experience with it yet), but your perspective is certainly a important one to keep in mind I think.
