Terminal Emulator Info

Gnome terminal 3.36

Output From vim --version

NVIM v0.4.4

Issue Description

The included lightline theme is not working with neovim. Changes do not take effect. I tried copying it over to the following locations:

/home/arhue/.config/nvim/pack/bundle/start/lightline.vim/autoload/lightline/colorscheme/ /home/arhue/.config/nvim/autoload/lightline/colorscheme ~/.vim/autoload/lightline/colorscheme/ ~/.nvim/autoload/lightline/colorscheme/

My init.vim looks like this:

set nocompatible " disable compatibility to old-time vi
set showmatch               " show matching
set ignorecase              " case insensitive
set mouse=v                 " middle-click paste with
set hlsearch                " highlight search
set incsearch               " incremental search
set tabstop=4 " number of columns occupied by a tab
set softtabstop=4 " see multiple spaces as tabstops so <BS> does the right thing
set expandtab " converts tabs to white space
set shiftwidth=4 " width for autoindents
set autoindent " indent a new line the same amount as the line just typed
set number " add line numbers
set wildmode=longest,list   " get bash-like tab completions
set cc=80 " set an 80 column border for good coding style
filetype plugin indent on "allow auto-indenting depending on file type
syntax on                   " syntax highlighting
set mouse=a " enable mouse click
set clipboard=unnamedplus " using system clipboard
filetype plugin on
set cursorline " highlight current cursorline
set ttyfast " Speed up scrolling in Vim
" set spell " enable spell check (may need to download language package)
" set noswapfile " disable creating swap file
" set backupdir=~/.cache/vim " Directory to store backup files.

packadd! onedark.vim

let g:onedark_terminal_italics=1
let g:lightline = {
  \ 'colorscheme': 'onedark',
  \ }
syntax on
colorscheme onedark

I am installing plugins as vim/nvim 8 packages.

I tried installing fonts with sudo apt-get install fonts-powerline as well.

What happens if you move your lightline clone from ~/.vim/pack/plugins/start/lightline (or equivalent) to ~/.vim/pack/plugins/opt/lightline and add packadd! lightline at the very bottom of your configuration (after the colorscheme setting?)

Sorry about the delay. I still do not get arrows :(. But I think the rest of the theme applies fine. I am closing this as I am happy with my setup.
