Drop to trash can doesn't work on IE #166

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. drag a block to the trash can

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect the trash can to open the top and when dropped remove the block

instead the trash can doesn't react.

the issue seems to be related to 164, since after fixing 164 and 165, it's 
working again.
