How convincing are the official UK govt stats re death rates in the UK?
ONS dataset on registered deaths in England & Wales (haven't found equivalent for Scotland / N. Ireland yet) available for the last 10 years (by age, sex and region).
From this data, should be possible to establish a long-term average, and to see how/whether/how much this has changed since the COVID19 pandemic. Frequency of other causes of death will also be lower (e.g. car crashes) because people have been staying at home. Not sure whether info available for causes of death, but it's probs available somewhere!
Then compare this data with the official govt numbers re death rates caused by corona virus. Data is available at: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/
Graph could be a relatively simple line graph showing the different stats, but we could also maybe think of doing this on a map to show any differences by region.
