Pros:

Quick to set up/configure and easy to learn the shortcuts
Lots of options to configure
Extensive documentation
Probably more straightforward to migrate from existing CSS than something like styled components

Potential issues/Cons

Repetition (possibly able to be addressed with @apply
Readability. I personally find styled components easier to read
style sheet isn't modular so the src/assets/main.css file will just keep growing and growing
- There appear to be some ways to optimize the CSS file size for production.

Decided not to move forward with tailwinds due to the large file style of the css. Instead we're going to move forward with styled components.
