Building this on our own would be a huge & endless job, which is why we outsource this to TripIt: sign up there, let them handle your airline reservations, and then import to OpenFlights.

It would be easier to use the site if importing of flights could be automated. Ideally, allowing a user to give airline login info, then pulling the data from the site, however this can be difficult to support so many airlines. Another way is to look through email for Airline reservations like how Google pulls out flights. Alternatively, you could provide an email address where we can forward our airline reservations and receipts. The system could use name and/or Frequent Flyer number to know which account it belongs to. Alternatively, an email alias could be created for each account. Then your system can pull flight information from the email. It is fairly easy for a user to setup email rules to automatically forward an airline reservation email to you.

I see, I thought that if you focused on your top few airlines it would not be too difficult to parse out info from emails like how google does it. I will try tripit. Either way, the more automated the import, the more likely it will be used.
