As of https://github.com/jpd002/Play-/commit/80760eb169a858c29562c0697c29f9657cc3f6aa, can now reach the main menus, but hang loading a new game. A save game can be used to skip the hang, but in-game graphics are all rendered wrong (related to #130) image

Thanks for the update!

Game is once again "State-nothing" as of build 0.30-d065c344

You get a "No 'SYSTEM.CNF' file found on the cdrom0 device" other games load fine.

boberto5888 commented 5 years ago

@Zenjir0 Works for me. Have you checked MD5/SHA1 against redump.org to make sure it's not a bad dump of the game?

Zenjir0 commented 5 years ago

@boberto5888 Thank you for double checking. Apparently I had a bad dump. Redumped and checked with redump.org. Works as before. I should have done that in the first place, apparently this one slipped through the cracks.

Please disregard my previous comment. Game is still "State-intro" crashes/locks up for me after intro cut scene.

As of build 0.35-58-g8f000b17, the game only shows like 1/6 upper of the screen in levels. (I used a save file to bypass the hanging intro) dmc1 However, it shows the image correctly for about 1 second whenever i press the start button to open the menu. The screen went back to its glitchy state when i exit the menu, of course. image_2021-01-01_210951

Seems to be running quite well as of version 0.63.

I recorded about 13 minutes of the game running on my machine:

https://youtu.be/hydAlOg3p0Y

If I let the game run the last cutscene without skipping before the game actually starts, it will freeze (freeze starts at 4:50). I waited a bit to see if the game would continue, pressed all buttons on my controller, but it would not respond.

I reset and skipped all cutscenes. The game then starts without freezing (Start skipping cutscenes at 6:28).

I used Vulkan instead of OpenGL because Vulkan had fewer video glitches. OpenGL was giving me artifacts like these:

gltch_01

This black strip can be seen in some cutscenes, and the first video that shows when the game boots glitches a lot with OpenGL.

gltch_02

This is another glitch that does not happen with Vulkan (the thin strip that seems to duplicate a small part of the video).

Audio is glitchy in some parts: +2:14 during the first cutscene that uses in-game graphics (but all cutscenes are mostly okay). +6:45 during the intro of the first part of the game, the audio glitches a lot.

The framerate is pretty stable and only seems to dip when the first enemies show up at 11:06. The framerate is very stable when a lot of enemies show up at 12:26."
