PHP 7 support in Heroku is on its last legs. The default stack doesn't support it at all. The last stack which supports PHP 7.4 is slated for turndown in April 2025.
We'll be good on Heroku-20 for the next couple of hunts, but the upgrade to PHP 8 may be a bit rough as there are a number of now-deprecated or significantly adjusted dependencies which we'll need to change.
