Get rid of obsolete filtering options? #113

Apparently the TPP streamer now moderates lots of things like that we used to be filtering.

Rules

  • No multi-line ASCII/unicode artwork
  • No unicode abuse
  • No automation
  • No referral links
  • No circumvention of R9K

From my experience in the last couple of days, I think we could safely get rid of some of your filtering options:

Also, I think Twitch has also re-enabled the ability to ignore users. This would mean officially getting rid of the user banlist (its currently commented) and needing to care about the message sender in a bunch of places.

Reducing the number of options would also help with #111 a bit, since we wouldn't be hitting the top of the screen as often.

I actually like the idea of leaving some of these filters, since some users (including myself) are using the script on other Twitch pages, not just for Twitch Plays Pokeon. It's really quite useful across the board.

"Spam filter" for Misty/Whitney stuff would be fine to remove, probably the spilled drinks as well. But the custom blacklist is pure gold, and the ASCII art one is also helpful on every stream (mostly for the "dongers").

The list of things not tolerated has been there for a while, but from what I've seen, it is just a guideline, it is not effectively filtered out. I think people who repeat stuff on the list get banned, but until they are, the messages are still shown and our filters still helps not having to see those.
