To get the HDPVR2 to work with MythTV, do you have to have a channel changing script?

That highly depends on what you are trying to record from. Assuming you are trying to capture from a DTV or STB that has the ability to change channels, then yes. Set the channel change script to whatever is appropriate for your situation (e.g. lirc, 6200ch).

If the device you are capturing from does not change channels, set the channel change script in mythtv to /bin/true.
