There is a 'signature' file such as 'service_12323223223.txt' where the '123..' is a timestamp chosen by the client.
client starts the streaming service
service deletes all signature files from the communication directory
service writes a signature file with the current timestamp
service runs until stopping criteria is met OR signature file has disappeared
