Incompatibility with pacific northwest coast indigenous characters #90

Open skwayu93 opened 1 year ago

skwayu93 commented 1 year ago

The characters x̱ and ḵ (indicating fricatives) display incorrectly, with the underline off centered. Additionally, the ʔ character just doesn’t blend with the font, and would be improved with stylization more similar to and rounded like the ?.

fitojb commented 1 year ago

I don’t think the font contains those characters at all. What you’re actually seeing are fallbacks from other system fonts, which would explain why they don’t “blend”.

hi @skwayu93 - @fitojb is correct, these glyphs are not in the font at all. is there a particular language you are hoping that barlow can support? I don't know a lot about scripts used by indigenous peoples of the pacific northwest coast, but I can certainly reach out to colleagues who do to get a sense of how realistic this request is
