Cheb's Necro Gear! #89

Open jdalfonso4341 opened 1 year ago

jdalfonso4341 commented 1 year ago

Description: I propose adding the following 3 items to Cheb's Necromancy.

My proposed idea for the combined set bonus is that you can now summon a pare of bats that follow you around in addition to your ghost. Not married to any of this. The Backpack alone would be super cool!

Awesome ideas! You reminded me of an idea I had for Necromancer Armor that I forgot about

@jdalfonso4341 I opened an issue over on Vapok's repository to discuss how this might work.

Cool I am new to the modding and Github community. I just edited my first Yaml file yesterday lol... then the game stopped working so I had to revert my changes.... I am that level of noob, but I really want to learn.

Yesterday I tried to create a brand new config file for pop villagers. I was able to get my mod manager to register the new configs, but I could not spawn my new NPCs. This is kind of what I am intersed in at this point. Talking seemingly simple Config mods like PoP Villages and Fantasy Followers and adding to their existing prefabs, but i am so out of my depth.

I understand the very basics of editing the code, but I could really use a mentor.

Don't worry - Yaml is infamously sensitive to things like indentation and, although I'm no stranger to such things, I still manage to mess them up sometimes. I'd recommend using a special editor for it like Sublime Text, Visual Studio Code, etc.

If you want to dip your toes into Valheim modding, I would recommend following the tutorials on the Jotunn site. You can try doing some basic things like adding in a custom item just to get a feel for things.

Modding is a tad complicated at times but perseverance is important and as long as you have the determination and reach out for help when you're stuck, you'll succeed.

Thank you for that link. Jesus there is just so much here to cover I feel like I am drowning. I am not a coder by any means. I am wondering if I am biting off more than I can chew by trying to jump into modding.

Are you aware of any groups that help beginners? I need some hand holding, but once I have the basics under my belt, I tend to scale very quickly.

So I have been following the instructions and I hit a brick wall. I was wondering if you would mind getting on a screen share with me?

Sure we can do that. Please join my discord. Also don't worry. Programming is always overwhelming - even after doing for almost 15 years (or just about half my life).

jdalfonso4341 commented 1 year ago

I am also new to Github, where is your discord? You can message me there directly as well "Valadriel The Mad#6301"

I am following along on the integration request and learning a lot as I read... starting to see why developers use Githib lol

Oh yeah, it's essential for us

Some Armor Ideas:

-Bone Armor

My Reason:

Iron is in most lore not very compatible with magic, so no Iron Set Silver is good with magic lore wise but it is "pure", quite unfavorable for Necromancy

Bone is, well, Bone. The very core of necromancy Leather is from a living beeing and suitable for necromancy Bronze and copper are often said to be good with magic, bad worse then leather Obsydian is one of the most used for early magic, especially the darker kind

I'm not so sure about Black matel so I just ignore it : )
