Minor enhancement request - dGPU BIOS Dump #3

Open ppc970fx opened 1 year ago

As original HP AMD WX 4150 MXM boards have become extremely rare would it be possible to add a plain BIOS dump file from this card to the repo. This would allow researching if it is possible to flash some very similar MXM cards, e. g. from Dell for use in Z2 mini G4/G5 machines. Thanks!

I actually just bought a random WX 4150 and unscrewed the heatsink from the original P1000. It doesn't matter which WX4150 you get.

I sold the original P1000 without the heat sink and even got some money back from it.

This is good news, I am waiting for a Dell WX 4150 to arrive and then this one would probably work, too. Really afraid of fan speed/control issues though.

hi. did you succeed with the Dell WX 4150, is everything working?

Hi, missed your message before - my WX4150 story has been a total failure. However my build was based on the newer G5 version of the Z2 mini workstation. According to HP specs the only MXM GPU with some macOS support for this model would be a WX3200. I was really hoping for BIOS backward compatibility regardless but with the WX4150 installed none of the DP ports worked, at all. Besides this issue the G5 model works as well with macOS as the G4 I assume, iGPU installation runs stable and is fully functional.

Can confirm that WX3200 MXM module works flawlessly with the G5 model. Only configuration change required is a "Lexa" ID patch for the MXM device:

PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)
device-id FF670000
