Feedback regarding lesson: Linked sumti #159

What part of the lesson was confusing? After reading through the lesson, I still did not understand what values of a selbri be would fill. I could understand the examples involving be do, but the other examples just left me confused.

What helped explain the concept to you? This excerpt from Lojban Level 0 helped clear up how be is supposed to be used:

We’ll first show the structure of such a complex selbri component:
brivla/selbri be sumti [bei sumti] [bei sumti] ... [bei sumti] [be’o]

where the sumti attached with be is normally x2, and other sumti are optionally attached in
numerical order (x3, x4, x5), each preceded by the marker bei. be’o is the end-marker for
internal sumti, appearing after the last internal sumti for a brivla or other selbri

Why did this help you understand the concept? I think this excerpt helped me understand how to use be better because it laid out the sumti and explicitly said that be will fill the second sumti of the selbri while bei will fill the third, fourth, and so on.

This made me realize why using be in mi nelci be do has no effect: it is because be puts do in the x2 spot of nelci where it would be without it.

Do you have further questions? How can I change/skip values when using be? Can I use fa, fe, fi, fo, fu or do I have to include zo'e. As an example is it possible to translate I am a friend of the person who came from there as mi pendo lo klama be fi ta instead of mi pendo lo klama be zo'e bei ta ?

Thank you so much, @shawnhouser! This is very helpful, and will help make the lesson better in the future.

It is indeed possible to use "be fi" instead of "be zo'e bei" as you suggested.
