Textarea with Textinput widget acts up on Chrome (Android)

Using Android 8.0.0 on Pixel 2, Chrome browser version is 63.0.3239.83.

I use jqm 1.4.5 with jquery 1.12.0.

When typing into a that is using the Textinput Widget, after about 3-4 lines worth of content, the browser freezes up, does not let you enter anymore content into the textarea even then you're pressing keys and renders the webpage useless. The screen will even start flashing randomly and you must kill the tab window to get it functional again.
