IMHO, cat pictures are fine if any team member prefer not using some actual picture in the avatar.

The current picture is not a blocker. Anytime you update your gravatar acc, it will update your picture in this page.

I think a cat should be fine. Of course this is coming from the person who is a cartoon on most places of the internet.
