New Imagery Source? #1

If you'd like another sources of imagery, I run the following:

The imagery providers have given permission for OpenStreetMap usage. I can tile or similar as required by you.

HI Grant, I trained on z18, around 1 meter/pixel. How many ^km do you have, < 1 m/pixel resolution?

Firefishy commented 6 years ago

http://coct.aerial.openstreetmap.org.za/ is around 2,445 km² @ 8cm/pixel. http://aerial.openstreetmap.org.za/ is around 1,221,037 km² @ 50cm/pixel.

Cape Town has a severe water crisis at the moment, being able to map swimming pools would likely be very helpful.

@Firefishy Hi Grant, is it possible to provide some tiles to be compatible with Jason's approach? It would be very useful even for me.

As my master thesis, I work on something I am working on implementing Mask R-CNN into GRASS GIS. It is also based on matterport's Mask R-CNN and it looks like that it uses the same thing as an input (an image and masks for instances where in the mask, 255 refers to the object and 0s elsewhere). It is somehow done, but for the text part, I need some images to show results. Unfortunately, it is not related to OSM eventhough it should be possible to detect swimming pools and have them as vector maps in GRASS GIS.

Sorry for a little offtopic, but I hope it is related enough. And thanks to Jason, his approach of masks harvesting is very helpful, but I have to contact Bing about the permission for usage in my thesis.

@pesekon2 Do you meant using the Bing Maps URL scheme? I use pure /z/x/y.png eg: https://a.coct.aerial.openstreetmap.org.za/layer/za_coct_aerial_2015/12/2260/2459.png
