Flac 1.2.1 exits with error after encoding. No .flac file generated. xubuntu-Gutsy. #163

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Rip a cd.
2. Standard "--best" flag for flac used as well as:
3. "--compression-level-8 --verify --replay-gain" used.
4. both codec flags will let Flac exit after ripping track 1.
5. Normalize volume Audiophile/Album mode selected.
6. extra thread disabled (for dualcore) still causes problem.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected output was a .flac file. What I see instead is an empty directory
with an error ripping.log file.

What version of rubyripper are you using? On what operating system? Are you
using the gtk2 or the commandline interface?

Using rubyripper 0.5.0 downloaded from:
http://getdeb-mirror.resonar.de/archive/ru/rubyripper_0.5.0-1~getdeb1_all.deb

Using rrip_gui installed in /usr/bin by the .deb on
xubuntu-7.10-Gutsy-AMD64-dualcore.

Please provide any additional information below.

Previously rubyripper 0.4.4 worked for me with the custom Flac flag with
Flac 1.2.1 on an Ubuntu-7.10-Gutsy-AMD64-Dualcore system.

Please advise. I have attached a copy of the output from running rrip_gui
in the terminal and it shows the Flac error code.

Thank You.

Best,
elliio

Just an idea: which translation are you using? Perhaps using the default helps?

You can do this with "LANG=C ./rubyripper_gtk2"

I replied to the "codesite-noreply@google.com" address with a report , terminal
output, and ripping.log file of my results. I will post them here in case that
address really doesn't take replies.

Hi, I removed the version of rubyripper 0.5.0 installed from the deb,
and built it with the locale directive you supplied. Attached is the
report of my procedure, the terminal output from an attempted CD rip,
and the ripping.log file.

I expected a directory full of *.flac files and only got a *.m3u file
and the ripping.log file. This was with 100% default options supplied
with the application, as I deleted the configuration dotfiles in my
home directory before building rubyripper 0.5.0 from source.

Good luck with tracking down the problem, I guess I will try to use
0.4.4 until there is a fix.

By the way I am available to help test out solutions on my end.

Best,
elliio

Can anyone else confirm any problems using flac?

I have since done a fresh install of xubuntu, flac 1.21, and rubyripper 0.5.0,
deleting the old ~/.rubyripper folder (from my backups) and reinstalling
rubyripper
worked for me. I tested it extensively, and I haven't been able to make rrip_gui
0.5.0 hiccup once.

Guess it was one of those caveats... Please let users know that they should
delete
the hidden directory for rubyripper when upgrading from 0.4.4

Best, ellio
