Has to scan again after update #41

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Banshee and mirage from official ubuntu repo
2. Scan some songs
3. Add launchpad banshee repo
4. Update

What actually happens when you follow these steps?
Everything works. The thing is that mirage after the update gave an "error"
and suggested to scan library again.

What would you expect to happen when you follow them?
Scan once and use that for following releases. At least most of them.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest. Ubuntu 9.04.

Please provide any additional information below.
If someone has a huge collection and decides to scan it, its sad to know
that each time he has to scan again. If this was just a one time
coincidence thats fine. Btw it works great! Thank you very much!!

Thank you for your feedback.

The information that is stored by Mirage for each song was changed between the
0.4
and 0.5 versions. That's why all tracks had to be re-scanned.
This change was necessary to improve the music similarity models and allow
faster
analysis.
We increment a version number each time this is needed, and it's done only when
strictly necessary.
I don't like to rescan my collection either ;)

I'm marking this as fixed, as it seems to me your concerns are already
addressed.
