Messages read twice #296

I realise that this has been brought up before, but I can't make this go away. I have a one plus5 with lineageos 18.1, I use the built in sms application. In the a2dp volume preferences there are listed under "apps for notifications" both "messaging" and "messaging service". If I enable both I get sms texts read out twice, obviously I then disabled each of these items in turn. With both enabled I get texts read twice, with either disabled, I do not get texts read at all!

is there something else I should be looking at?

That is odd. Seems like selecting one of those would result in the message coming through. Not sure what is going on there. I battled with the double reading issue and had to put in code to look for redundant messages. I use Google Messages and don't have that issue.

Well at least I'm not doing it wrong!:) I can live with the double messages, it's better than none, but if I choose any stream other than music I hear nothing, which is normal; but now using the music stream the music isn't paused, it is just quieter with the text to speech on top, is that supposed to happen as well?
