I don't completely understand this, and it's possible that it's not the fault of the addon at all, but see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1132535, particularly comment 5.

Commented in the bug -- this seems to be a core SDK issue, affecting most addons (as the modules affected are the more popular ones). Some bugs resolved already/soon that reduce CPOW traffic that wasn't intended. Guessing that'll solve this issue for the addon (and other than not using any components of the SDK, not much to fix in the addon itself)
