I saw this as well in the past. I'm not exactly sure where this is rooting from but it mostly worked again when I restarted the script (and hence ffmpeg)
I even reboot the computer several times and still the same ... this is a very strange issue ...
you may try and isolate the ffmpeg call for debugging purposes
you may try and isolate the ffmpeg call for debugging purposes
how w do that?
Should be something like this:
ffmpeg -nostdin -threads 1 -i 'udp://@0.0.0.0:8554?overrun_nonfatal=1&fifo_size=50000000' -f:v mpegts -fflags nobuffer -vf format=yuv420p -f v4l2 /dev/video42
I get the same as the log information
$ ffmpeg -nostdin -threads 1 -i 'udp://@0.0.0.0:8554?overrun_nonfatal=1&fifo_size=50000000' -f:v mpegts -fflags nobuffer -vf format=yuv420p -f v4l2 /dev/video42

looks like the ffmpeg doesn't give "extra debug" information....
mh, I feel I can't help you really a lot here :/ sorry for that
You may reach out to th ffmpeg folks or try a quick google
I was asking in the #ffmpeg IRC channel in web.libera.chat and the information that I got is the UDP port is not receiving anything
I don't have the knowledge to answer the questions about the ffmpeg command but one thing is for sure if I add a timeout to the command I get an error that you can see here: https://pastebin.com/EYXw6BCr
Because of this error, the guy that was helping conclude the problem is the /dev/video42 doesn't have any video.
I try to use the vlc command: $ vlc -vvv --network-caching=300 --sout-x264-preset=ultrafast --sout-x264-tune=zerolatency --sout-x264-vbv-bufsize 0 --sout-transcode-threads 4 --no-audio udp://@:8554
and just don't show anything.
I connected the GoPRO to another linux with Manjaro and worked well ... when I run the command
$ sudo gopro webcam
my GoPRO icon change to WebCam and in Ubuntu that doesn't happen. maybe that is the reason why I don't have a video in the UDP link.
How can I fix this?
Hi aboimpinto - I have this issue too now. ffmpeg does not start streaming. Seems the gopro (hero8) does not produce any UDP data upon
ffmpeg -nostdin -threads 1 -i 'udp://@0.0.0.0:8554?overrun_nonfatal=1&fifo_size=50000000'
I am running this inside an ubuntu 22 OS on a miniPC.
Did you manage to solve this, aboimpinto?
Is there any other way to test if out of this marvellous camera (e.g. via IP? how?) whether it is sharing its camera raw data ?
I've been using mu GoPRO with this script for the past week but now when I run the command
$ sudo gopro webcam -p enx -n -a
I get this output:
and looks like the FFMPEG doesn't start to stream the feed of the GoPRO. What it's wrong?
best wishes Paulo Aboim Pinto
