I do not like this. I often put a lot of effort into writing replies and quote the part that I am reacting to, so that the reply can stand on its own. I hate it when such a reply evaporates just because the person I am replying to misbehaves or deletes their account.
The placeholders for deleted comments should be implemented such that replies to the deleted comment survive.
Currently, when a user gets his account removed by admins, all their comments disappear without any indication that they existed. This leaves threads with gaps that are impossible to understand to new readers.
When a comment gets removed there should be a small placeholder telling readers "Comment has been removed by user" or "Comment has been removed by moderator" or alike.
