Failed to start #555

No real log file that I can see, but the game just fails to launch, double clicking JSettlers.jar brings up the "locate installation" dialogue but then does nothing; subsequent launches causes javaw.exe to launch for a split second which indicated to me there's a problem with the jar file.

Attempting to debug the launch process I took to cmd (admin, of course) and it revealed this error: image

edit: MapCreator seems to work fine, however.

Seems like there is a corrupt image file.

Which version of settlers were you chosing when you were prompted for the location of that folder?

followed the installation for Windows Linux and Mac: installed the Settlers 3 Amazons demo, "Die Siedler 3 - Das Geheimnis der Amazonen Demo" / "Secret of the Amazons" (saved as s3amazonen_demo.exe) as its the only version that i can see, downloaded the latest JSettlers zip ("JSettlers-Android_v0.3-alpha.zip") and ran it... prompted it towards the install (c:\bluebyte\s3amazonendemo) and it did nothing, ran it again and still nothing... then i launched through cmd to find this error...

Edit: just attempted to rerun it and now its working... erm, all i did was leave it for ~8 hours, went to bed (pc still on) and woke up, ran it and now its working... JSettlers - Version: d6dcc99c

I'd like to keep this open - we should fix it any way (or at least display any form of error message)

from where im sitting, it read the .dat files wrongly somehow, i'd put a line in for debugging that mentions the dat file it was trying to load at the time and what it got... potentially the difference between them \ whats missing?
