I don't know if you were around a few years back but I used to do bbq.js events in my backyard before my landlord was forclosed on and I had to move :(
JSFest can cover the food and drink expenses although I would encourage people to bring something just because it ads to the diversity of food/drink and gives it a more homey vibe.
I also have a projector, PA, and outdoor screen.
Where is your backyard located? We could also consider doing this in one of the parks if we're confident the weather is going to hold up.
So, the only thing we need in the short term is art :)
oh, btw, I already own jsbbq.org
Woo!
My house is located here. Definitely not attached to doing it there though — it might be easier to do it somewhere near BART. Unless something with the drought changes drastically, I'm not too worried about the weather :(
By art, do you mean a logo, or what? Happy to whip together a few choices
yes, basically something to go up on http://oakland.jsfest.com
Cool, on it.
First go at a logo — would appreciate any and all feedback :)
Did some more refining.
I've been to OaklandJS and NodeSchool a few times and there's been interest from a bunch of people in a BBQ event with JS people. I figured JSFest might be a good time to actually make that happen.
There are two ways this could go: 1) we could have a purely social event with food and drink; 2) we could do a small series of talks (or just a single talk) along with BBQing.
What can I offer
Any interest in this?
