replication-first #81

Multi-master replication is not actually very hard, so long as you're willing to throw away a number of cherished and widespread beliefs about databases and data itself. I'll show how to build a database with multi-master replication on top of leveldb that fits on a single screen using a bunch of tiny modules and some uncommon approaches. Offline-first is a good start, but replication-first takes this idea to its logical conclusion!

This talk would pair very nicely with a @dominictarr talk about secure scuttlebutt.

BaseJump, Nothing is Sacred, or Decentralize.js would all be appropriate events so this talk is for whichever has more capacity or is most fitting.

feross commented 10 years ago

Do you guys both want to talk at Decentralize.js?

ghost commented 10 years ago

I'm up for that.

dominictarr commented 10 years ago

sure! I put my proposal here: https://github.com/jsfest/oakland-cfp/issues/92

feross commented 10 years ago

After talking with mikeal we decided there's not enough time left to organize a decentralize.js. :(

Could JSBBQ or Nothing is Sacred take these excellent talks by @substack and @dominictarr? cc/ @jessepollak @brycebaril

jessepollak commented 10 years ago

@substack @dominictarr I really like the concepts, but I'm concerned that it might be a little heavy for casual over dinner talks at JSBBQ. You would know better than I — what do you think?

mikeal commented 10 years ago

Nothing is Sacred is full as well.

mikeal commented 10 years ago

Accepted for ONE-SHOT :)

If you haven't already, please register yourself as a speaker for JSFest:

https://ti.to/jsfest/oakland?release_id=nqflw0il0qw

If you get it in within the next few days you'll probably get a much nicer conference badge :)

And for any clever buggers who think they can register for free using that link, we will be checking the names against the accepted speakers list :)
