BROWSE LIKE XERCES, GOD-KING OF THE PERSIANS #13

Abstract

Many of the web apps you use every day are not worthy of your time or attention. As a web developer God-king, you have the ability to reshape the web in your own image.

Historical fact: 2500 years ago Xerces, the God-King of the Persians, built an empire based entirely on Chrome Extensions. Today we will recreate history.

Details

This talk uses Chrome Extensions, but it's really about not accepting the web as it is, even on other people's site. It's powerful stuff that leverages existing knowledge any JS developer has, in a way that surprisingly few developers utilise. It bears no resemblance to the standard Chrome Extensions talk - it's about real problems being solved, 'unofficial' strategies you won't hear elsewhere, and having fun.

Speaker Bio

Mike is a JS programmer. He's made things for Bazaarvoice, Google, Red Hat and himself. Is he not merciful?
