It takes a lot more than garish backgrounds and gifs to make a proper 1990s inspired site today. In making my professional home page on the information superhighway, http://bitfission.com, I wanted to pay homage to sites of old, while still being an actual, useful site. It was a surprisingly daunting task, so I'll share all the tricks I had to discover, including:

reviving <blink> with <marquee>
preventing right-click thieves
fixing midis when Tim Cook takes away midi support
And the coup de grâce: using frames without sacrificing deep links
