Steam Community Pages show up in foreign languages #119

When I go to Steam without the Steam Enhanced plugin enabled, everything works fine.

When I have the Enhanced Steam extension enabled, whenever I go to a community section of Steam (profile pages, friends, groups, badges, greenlight, market, workshop, discussions), it shows up in a foreign language. Today it's Norwegian, yesterday it was tradition Chinese. Forums, store pages, and the support pages still show up correctly. Any insight?

As an aside, as an OCD collector, I love this extension

cfyfe,

Enhanced Steam doesn't write any data to the Steam cookie, which is what Steam uses to determine your language settings. I've had others that have expressed a similar concern, but I've also read numerous reports from people not using Enhanced Steam that are running into the exact same problem.

To be clear: are you consistently getting a foreign language when enabling Enhanced Steam? If you disable Enhanced Steam (and do nothing else) does it return to your native language? If you enable Enhanced Steam and visit http://steamcommunity.com/?l=english (or whatever your native language is) does it still show in a foreign language?

Thanks for your assistance in trying to tackle this issue. Because I've read so many reports of this happening to users are random who are not using Enhanced Steam, I am inclined to believe that Valve's servers occasionally glitch often, and that this issue affects all Steam Community users and not just those using Enhanced Steam.

I must've been losing it yesterday, I just checked again and regardless of the enhanced steam extension, the pages comes up in foreign languages.

But after going to http://steamcommunity.com/?l=english , all subsequent pages are now properly in English.

Sorry about that and thanks for the response and solution.

Thanks for letting me know. Like I said, I think Steam's servers can get a little weird sometimes, and once that language is set in the cookie you either have to clear your cookies or change it back manually with that URL.

Glad to hear that Enhanced Steam wasn't to blame. :)
