What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. create contact in gmail account thru phone
2. force auto sync, sync show "Sync is currently experiencing problems. it will
be back shortly"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
the contact should sync and show up in contacts.google.com

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
aurora_3.1_update5

Please provide any additional information below.

seems like some other forum already mention about this in ICS, not sure it is
the same source that aurora buildt apond

10 - 04/04/2012: [CONFIRMED BIG ISSUE] When creating a new contact in phone and
setting it to GOOGLE CONTACTs; forcing a sync or auto-sync option will NOT push
the contact to google servers for backup purposes. However, deleting or
creating a contact while logged in on a full web browser will push it back to
the phone via sync. FIXED IN UCLD2 LEAK

Try clearing the contacts data with settings..apps..all..contacts
storage..clear data

After this, it will download your contacts again and sync should work.

I can not confirm this. Tried add a contact in phone and sync to cloud ---->
Works.

Delete the contact ----> sync to cloud. Works also..

Faced the same issue, Motorola Razr Max. Cleared data and the sync worked from
the web back to the phone. Entering a new contact, or making a change in an
existing contact, caused the sync error message to be displayed and the sync to
fail

Found another approach - cleared the gmail data and now it syncs in both
directions
